Dr. Hoda ElMaraghy

Dr. Hoda A. ElMaraghy holds a Canada Research Chair in Manufacturing Systems at the University of Windsor, Canada. She is a Professor of Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering and the founding Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) Centre. She has been a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University and Director of the Flexible Manufacturing Systems Centre till she moved to the University of Windsor as the first woman Dean of Engineering in Canada. Dr. Hoda ElMaraghy is a member of several Editorial Boards of International Scientific and Engineering Journals, and Boards of Directors of Research Foundations, Granting Agencies and Centers of Research Excellence in Canada, USA and Europe. She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP) and Member of its Governing Council, Fellow of the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineers (CSME) and Fellow and Director of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). She has been recognized with awards and medals for her excellent research contributions and impact nationally and internationally. She has published more than 350 papers in scientific and professional journals and conferences, edited 3 books and contributed to 13 others. Her research is well funded by the provincial and federal Governments in Canada in collaboration with Industry. She has supervised more than 100 Highly Qualified Personnel. Professor ElMaraghy’s areas of research interests include: Manufacturing Systems Flexibility, Reconfiguration and Changeability, Products and Production Systems Co-Evolution, Systems Complexity, Modeling variations in products and manufacturing systems, Process and Production Planning, Rapid Products Development, Assembly, Inspection, Quality, Maintenance and Robotics. Dr. ElMaraghy is a member of the International Scientific and Organizing Committees of numerous technical conferences.

Dr. Waguih ElMaraghy

Dr. Waguih ElMaraghy is Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE). He is also Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) Centre, at the University of Windsor, a centre of research excellence for product design, manufacturing systems design and operation and intelligent automation.

Dr. ElMaraghy is co Chair of the Human Factors and Education Working Group of CIRP, and a Fellow of CIRP, ASME, and CSME, and a Senior Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). He has more than 300 publications in international scientific journals and refereed conferences, four edited books, and two patents. His research interests include products design, design for disassembly and lifecycle consideration, manufacturing systems, robotics, rapid prototyping, hybrid manufacturing, reverse engineering and manufacturing complexity measurement and management.

Dr. ElMaraghy is a registered professional engineer in Ontario and a member of the Academic Requirements Committee (ARC) of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Professor Masaru Nakano

After obtaining a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University in 1980, Masaru Nakano joined Toyota Central R&D Laboratories (1980-2008) and served as principal researcher before joining this graduate school in April 2008. Meantime, he obtained a Ph.D. in Production System Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology in 1997 and then served as a lecturer at Nagoya Institute of Technology (1997-1999).
