Metso-supplied Finland's largest pellet-fired heating plant produces environmentally friendly energy in Tampere

Finland's largest pellet-fired heating plant, which was supplied by Metso to Tampereen Energiantuotanto Oy, Tampere, is based on a technological solution that is the first of its kind in the country. It will bring new opportunities to gear the structure of Finnish district heat production towards the goals of sustainable development. Previously, peak load plants have been using fossil fuels because there was no other technology available.

Särkänniemi confident in a record-breaking summer
The Särkänniemi Adventure Park in Tampere, Finland will enter the summer season with three new and exciting experiences. The theme area based on Mauri Kunnas’ Doghill books spans an entire hectare and boasts over 30 buildings. The area whose every detail and unique atmosphere have been honed to perfection took three years to plan. Those craving for speed can enjoy Särkänniemi’s new SpeedBoat attraction. The boat sports a top speed of 35 knots and utilises technology that enables nimble movement as well as 360° turns. The restaurant services, in turn, will be taken to new heights with Hans Välimäki’s Midhill restaurant. Offering top quality hamburgers, the restaurant is the first to be established in Tampere by Hans Välimäki, considered to be one of the best chefs in the country. The summer season of the Särkänniemi Adventure Park will begin on 27 April, and a grand Mayday event for the entire family will be held on 1 May.
